Valentine's Day
is more than a celebration of love for one's romantic partner. The heart-filled holiday serves as an excuse to honor everything we adore, from friends to family to
to ourselves. Unfortunately, the traditional take on V-Day comes with a fair amount of
less-than-eco accompaniments
, which is why we'll be ending our evening with this low-impact (and delicious) vegan chocolate mousse.
Selma, the recipe developer behind
Fit Foodie Selma
, shared a four-ingredient recipe on TikTok that's catching people's attention. Silken
serves as the texture hero, the plant-based product rendering
and cream unnecessary. "It gives the super-easy mousse its silky-smooth texture and you can't taste the tofu at all," she says
in the video
@fitfoodieselma 4-ingredient Healthier Chocolate Mousse😍 It’s vegan & high-protein! The secret ingredient is silken tofu which gives this mousse its smooth and silky texture🤩 This mousse is a perfect dessert idea for Valentine’s Day❤️ Be sure to use silken tofu, because it doesn’t have a grainy texture. • Ingredients: 250 g / 9 oz. silken tofu (drained + 30 minutes at room temperature) 50 g dark chocolate, melted (70-80%) 2 tablespoons unsweetened cacao powder 2 - 3 tablespoons maple syrup (to taste) • 1. Put all the ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth 2. Pour into glasses or bowls and let set in the fridge for 1 hour 3. vegan dessert
is just as sumptuous as the dairy-packed stuff, but better for
your body and the planet
(both of which you should be loving on every single day). Because of that, there's a solid chance you'll be enjoying it long after the holiday is over.
