New Year, New (Sustainable) You. Through January 9th, we're dropping our latest collection of eco-friendly resolution solutions in the Brightly Shop—products that will make your 2022 more sustainable! And today, we're sharing some of our favorite picks.
"What we wanted to really focus on is more eco-friendly swaps," says Kendall Harris, Brightly's Operations Manager, in this week's episode of Good Together. "How can you make a small change in your everyday life that can actually amount to quite a bit when you look at an entire year."
When curating the collection, Harris says the Brightly team thought about things like how to use less plastic, as well as how to navigate the stresses of today's world more sustainably.
"We thought about how we can explore some mindfulness and gratitude practices," she says. "There's a lot going on in the world right now and it can be really stressful on people, so we wanted to add in that layer when we thought about the January Drop."
If you want to check out the January Product Drop for yourself, it's now live until January 9th at 11:59 pm PST! Start with some of Kendall and Liza's favorite picks for a more sustainable 2022 below.
6 Eco-Friendly Products to Shop This Month
1. Brightly Exclusive Wine Glasses (Set of 4), free with purchases over $100
🚨 First 100 people who spend $100+ will receive this set for free! 🚨
Why Liza Loves It: "They're white and yellow dotted Brightly-exclusive wine glasses made from recycled glass by artisans in Tonalá, Mexico. And they're handmade and handblown. I've known this artisan group for many, many years. You get a set of four wine glasses with any purchase over $100."
2. Nutr Machine, $159
Why Kendall Loves It: "I love having my milk every morning, but we noticed we were creating a lot of waste with how much we were purchasing. I definitely wanted to start making some of my plant-based milk at home. I had previously tried a nut milk bag, and it was kind of a to-do, so I didn't end up using it. And that's when I saw this machine; it basically makes plant-based milk within a matter of minutes. It does almonds, cashew, oat, rice, soy, and more."
Why Liza Loves It: "The cool thing about this cutting board is it's actually made entirely from kitchen plastic scraps and renewable sugarcane. Very importantly, it's also dishwasher-safe. Last but not least, it comes with one of our other favorite products: a set of free Food Huggers."
Why Kendall Loves It: "One of my big goals for 2022 is cutting down single-use plastics. I feel like I've done that in a lot of areas of my life, but the final frontier for me was menstrual products. I was kind of scared to try a menstrual cup. We tested out quite a few of them, and I found that the flex menstrual cup was awesome. It really is great for beginners like myself; it has a special pull tab that works like a tampon. Because that's what I'm familiar with, it was just a really easy switch for me to make."
Pro tip: Click here for a doctor's guidance on how to use a menstrual cup, including how to insert it, remove it, and clean it.
Why Liza Loves It: "Natural deodorant is one of the most popular products discussed on the Brightly app—especially in the product recommendations chat group we have. This one has a beautiful reusable case, as well as refills that are compostable and plastic-free. As an exclusive perk for the Brightly community, you're getting a free refill with your purchase in the January Drop."
Why Kendall Loves It: "I've had this for years and years, and it's a really great way to start 2022 on the right page. It's called The Five Minute Journal. And I feel like five minutes is generous because it really only takes me 2 to 3 minutes. It's just a sweet little book that you can keep on your nightstand. Every morning, you fill out some prompts about what you're grateful for, and it sets a really positive tone for your day. Then in the evening, you open it up again and you can reflect on your day. It's also made of 100% recycled paper and is FSC certified as well."
