9 Sustainable Products at Costco, from Oat Milk to Mattresses

You already know buying in bulk can be a great way to shop more sustainably. Cue in Costco—the chain store that has made it its mission to allow you to do exactly that.

While the company still has a long way to go in the sustainability department (some produce and bundles of products are wrapped in plastic), there are plenty of planet-friendly products to choose from. While no item is perfect, these options use more eco-friendly materials and/or ingredients than the typical products you’ll find on store shelves.

So the next time you’re exploring those aisles, consider adding these sustainable products at Costco to your oversized cart. From oat milk to pillows, here’s what to keep an eye out for.

9 Sustainable Products at Costco

1. Califia Farms Café Oat Barista Choice Oat Milk

Califia Farms’ oat milk is made for baristas and oat milk lovers alike. It’s made in North America, is non-GMO Project Verified and gluten-free, and pairs great with a coffee or just on its own.

2. Planet Pillow 2-Pack

You’ll sleep better knowing your pillows are good for the planet. Costco’s exclusive pillows feature 100 percent organic cotton, an earth-friendly recycled blend, and is Certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX.

3. Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat

Craving a plant-based burger? Costco carries bulk options from both Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat, depending on the store. As for available products, you’ll find the Impossible Burger, as well as the Beyond Burger and Beyond Meatballs.

The Impossible Burger, for example, uses 96 percent less land and 87 percent less water than a traditional beef burger. It also generates 89 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

4. Zip Top 10-Piece Reusable Silicone Bags

If you need baggies for your snacks and sandwiches, skip the plastic and go for this reusable silicone option instead. The set is dishwasher, freezer, and microwave-safe, and says it can replace 5,000+ disposable bags over time.

5. Ruta Maya Organic Dark Roast Coffee

This list of sustainable products at Costco also includes coffee. Ruta Maya Organic Coffee is shade-grown by a cooperative of 1,500 farmers from Chapas, Mexico. It’s USDA Certified Organic and is sure to add a little pep to your step in the morning.

6. Orgain USDA Organic Simple Plant Protein Powder

If you’re looking for a new protein powder, Costco has you covered. Orgain’s Simple Plant Protein Powder is made with simple ingredients and is USDA Organic. It’s also certified vegan, certified kosher, and gluten-free.

7. Kirkland Signature Baby Wipes

Make cleaning up your baby a little more eco-friendly by using Kirkland Signature Baby Wipes. They’re made from Tencel, are hypoallergenic, and are free of chlorine, alcohol, parabens, and fragrance.

8. Back to the Roots Organic Mushroom Grow Kit

Last but not least on our list of sustainable products at Costco is this mushroom grow kit. Cool, right? The mushrooms are organic and grow in just 10 days. Call ahead to see if your store has it in stock.

9. Brentwood Home Mattress

You can get an eco-friendly mattress for a fraction of the cost at Costco. This option is handcrafted in California with eco-friendly and non-toxic materials, including upcycled steel.
