Electric Bikes Are Becoming More Accessible as the Market Soars
electric-bikes-trend-new

The pandemic has made us appreciate being out in nature (and getting a breath of fresh air!) on an entirely new level. That newfound love of the outdoors has resulted in an electric bicycle boom—and the eco-friendly travel trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Levi Conlow, CEO and co-founder of Lectric eBikes, says the pandemic may have spearheaded the increase in sales, but there are many reasons behind the influx in popularity. Not just with the environmentally-conscious—with everyone.

Last year, e-bike imports outpaced electric cars, making e-bikes the best-selling electric vehicle in the United States. In 2022, sales are still rising, with retailers across the country reporting record-high monthly sales.

“Consumers are quickly determining that riding an electric bike can be faster, cost less, and help the environment, all while providing significant health benefits,” Conlow says. “Increasingly, consumers with multiple household vehicles are finding that an electric bike may replace a car, eliminating the high cost of purchase, maintenance, fuel, insurance, parking, licensing, and more.”

In the past, electric bikes weren’t super accessible: Before the market grew, typical electric bike prices were unattainable to many, ranging from $1,500 to $8,000. Now, more conscious consumers are able to enjoy the sustainable form of transportation that benefits both our health and the health of the planet.

“In our research, we found a market gap in affordable quality electric bikes. We believed that the high price of many electric bikes, often $2,000+, was a roadblock for a large number of consumers,” says Conlow. “Our focus was simply to get more people riding bikes and we were determined to build a bike with quality parts at a fair price, offering it directly to the customer.”

With electric bikes becoming more affordable, we see a future where more conscious consumers are able to get from point A to point B with fewer carbon emissions. Whether it’s commuting to work or riding to the grocery store, the eco-friendly option is on its way to taking up well-deserved space in garages across the country.
