From solo snacking to easy entertaining, we’re all about boards. And though a buttered take on the classic charcuterie cause quite a stir, chocolate charcuterie boards are a timeless interpretation for the sweet-toothed among us.

And the secret to a super sustainable dessert board? One centered around a delicious vegan dip—in this case, chocolate hummus.

Content creator Meera shared an easy recipe for the unexpected sweet stuff, the dip comprised of a selection of simple ingredients. “This chocolate hummus makes the perfect healthy snack or dessert,” she says in the video.

This vegan mixture is decadent and protein-packed, elevating your sugar-centric board while upping the overall health factor. Serve with organic, seasonal fruit, Fair Trade chocolate bars, nuts, and more for a memorable (and sharable) snack. That said, chocolate hummus is a worthy standalone option, too.

Here, a recipe for the perfect dessert hummus to serve as the star of your chocolate charcuterie board.

How to Make Chocolate Hummus for Your Charcuterie Board

Ingredients

1 cup chickpeas, skin removed
4 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp fine sea salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Maple syrup to taste
Water, as needed

Instructions:

1. Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth, about two minutes.

2. Add water as needed to achieve desired texture.

3. Place in the center of your chocolate charcuterie board. Surround with dippable treats. Enjoy!
