It’s that time of year again—all your favorite holiday drinks are back! And while most of these seasonal beverages contain dairy, Dunkin’ Donuts has a few vegan options available this year for a more planet-friendly order.
As much as we love a good pumpkin spice latte or white chocolate mocha, these drinks are often made with dairy infused in the flavored syrups and are topped with whipped cream. Dairy and other animal-derived products have a higher carbon footprint than alt-milks like oat milk, making it hard to find a planet-friendly holiday drink.
While Starbucks has integrated vegan holiday drinks into its menu, Dunkin’ has yet to catch up. But don’t worry—there are still yummy ways to customize your favorite Dunkin’ holiday drinks to make them vegan-friendly.
First, we’ll let you know which holiday drinks aren’t vegan. Then, we’ll give you a list of our favorite vegan-friendly holiday drinks to order at Dunkin’ this season!
Which Dunkin’ Drinks Aren’t Vegan-Friendly?
Unfortunately, not all of the fun flavor shots we love at Dunkin’ are vegan. While some drinks only require a milk swap, others may require a total flavor change. For example, Dunkin’s toasted white chocolate syrup contains dairy, so the new Toasted White Chocolate Signature Latte can’t be made vegan—even if you opt for dairy-free milk. Before ordering, be sure to check the ingredients and allergens list.
For more vegan options, check out Dunkin’ Donuts’ vegan menu. It not only includes ways to make your drinks vegan, but it also features delicious vegan-friendly breakfasts (such as avocado toast and hash browns). Dunkin’ is also working toward sustainable goals, like using eco-friendly cups and reducing carbon emissions.
If you want to make your vegan holiday drink even more eco-friendly, skip the to-go cups—both the plastic and paper cups are hard to recycle. Instead, have the barista put it in a reusable coffee cup.
3 Vegan Holiday Drinks to Order at Dunkin’
1. Holiday Blend Drip Coffee
This year, Dunkin’ released its new Holiday Blend Coffee which consists of quality Colombian and Ethiopian coffees and notes of dried fruit and sweet molasses. If you take your coffee black, this blend is totally vegan-friendly. But if you take your coffee with milk or want to order a latte, opt for a dairy-free option. Dunkin’ offers almond milk, oat milk, and coconut milk.
2. Vegan Peppermint Mocha Latte
If your favorite holiday drink is Dunkin’s delicious Peppermint Mocha Latte, you’re in luck! With a few swaps, you can make this beverage vegan-friendly. The latte contains steamed milk, but instead of ordering whole milk, opt for one of the dairy-free alternatives. We recommend using oat milk, as it makes the drink creamier.
The “signature drink” version of this latte comes with whipped cream, mocha drizzle, and chocolate powder, but not all of these toppings are vegan. Instead, just order a peppermint mocha latte with your choice of dairy-free milk and mocha drizzle to keep your beverage vegan.
You can order it hot or iced. And if you’re not big on lattes, try a peppermint mocha macchiato, cappuccino, or frozen coffee. Just be sure to ask for no whipped cream.
3. Chai Latte
A chai latte is perfect for the holiday season. It includes a blend of warming spices, including cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg. To make your chai latte vegan, simply order it with oat milk, almond milk, or coconut milk; the chai syrup used is vegan. This drink is also delicious whether you have it iced or hot.
