EQUO Uses Natural Ingredients for the Perfect Alternative to Single-Use Plastic Straws

In 2019, more than 500 million plastic straws were used each day in the United States. (Yikes, we know.) Plastic straws are one of the most commonly used—and easily replaceable—plastics. They’re also often ingested by aquatic wildlife because they’re not biodegradable.

That’s why we go to EQUO for eco-friendly straws, as they’re made from innovative and biodegradable ingredients like sugarcane, coconut, grass, rice, and straw. Taking its name from a mix of the words “eco-friendly” and “status-quo,” trailblazer and female founder Marina Tran-Vu came up with this idea in hopes of making the world a better place. EQUO’s mission statement mimics Brightly’s inclusive ethos: “Every little action helps.”

These straws rival the plastic alternative in functionality. Yep, the EQUO team made sure they don’t get soggy like some recyclable straws you may have encountered. They also manufactured them without utilizing plastic or chemicals. Whether you’re sipping on ice-cold lemonade or warm lemon water, these sustainable straws can handle it.

While metal straws are awesome plastic straw alternatives as well, these biodegradable straws are super convenient for when you’re on the go or too rushed to run the dishwasher. A convenient product that saves wildlife? Sign us up!
